We recently learned that Snoop Dogghas been sitting on some unreleased vocals from his late Doggbrother Nate Dogg, and now it appears that he's not the only former collaborator who's got some vocals in the vault. Warren G, whose best known song featured Nate, just announced a new EP that'll feature posthumous vocals from the West Coast legend.
Regulate... G Funk Era Part II will serve as a sequel to Warren's 1994 debut album, and will be his first release since 2009's The G Files. Nate Dogg will be featured on a track called "My House" that's currently up for preorder on iTunes. The EP drops on August 6th with additional features from E-40, Too $hort, Young Jeezy and Bun B, and you can view the artwork in the gallery above.
Speaking to Billboard, Warren said:
“I feel real good that I am getting the chance to let people hear a lot of that sound that has been missing [in] hip-hop. I finally have records that I had in the archives that I put together to let the world hear some of that G Funk that they’ve been missing and wanting to hear for long time. [Fans] will be able to hear unreleased songs with me and Nate. They have been asking for years; ever since he passed away and even before he passed away, they wanted music from me and him. It was a lot to work on records with one of your buddies, one of your best friends who’s not with you anymore. [But] just being able to put all the love and energy in there and making it successful… Guys that I respect a lot in the music business came aboard and collaborated with me on some tracks,” he said. “Artists like E-40, Too $hort, Young Jeezy, Bun B are vets of hip-hop. [They’re] artists that me and Nate loved and wanted to work with.”
